Day Fifty One

Claire is wearing a scrunchie [Leeds Kirkgate Market], country landscape with sheep print fleece [Radish Countrywear, from a charity shop], blue men's t-shirt [Primark] black leggings [Primark], zebra print thermal socks [George at Asda] and tan leather boots [Topshop].
Covadonga is wearing a blue dress [Spanish H&M].

I'm being a right hipster today and attempting to make something unfashionable fashionable (like with mom jeans, they're all the rage now, but people who weren't 'moms' didn't really used to wear them).
I recently found this fleece in a charity shop and unlike most fleeces, I liked the pattern. There's a nice sense of perspective and graduation of scenery, and there's sheep! It's quite colourful as well. I brought it home and washed it, only to find some of the fluffiness had gone so I attempted to literally comb and brush some softness back in, to some success. My housemates, however, hate it. They loathe the concept of the fleece. One told me I looked like a farmer's wife with ten cats.
Why is such an innocent material subjected to such dislike?
My Mum wears them, and this one I think is quite youthful, it even has a cartoon ram on a piece of fabric attached to the zip. They're comfy and soft, so soft and strokable, and they're warm. And over-sized! Over-sized is always edgeh.
I think I have risen to the challenge of making fleeces fashionable today, with the help of my scrunchie and dark lippy, because I couldn't do it alone and no-one has been willing to offer any positive opinions about the fleece. Their loss though, I'm warm now and I'm prepared for middle aged country walks already, as the brand 'Radish Countrywear' implies.
