After my small announcement yesterday, I have written some sentences about accessories and accessorising!
This is my trinket-encrusted bookcase-top. I own a fair amount of adornments, and this week is my attempt to wear more of them. They are like the cherry, or those edible pearls on top of cakes, I'd say a scarf is the icing. I've commented before about my fear and laziness specifically regarding rings and their sad abandonment by sinks by their forgetful parent who should know better (i.e. me). I hope not to loose too many of my sparkles this week!
Many people adhere to the Coco Chanel rule whereby one looks in the mirror before leaving the house and removes an item before continuing. I see the logic, but this week I want more! There are some show stopping garments that do not require shiny/petaled/chained/glittery gizmos and woozles hanging over them. However, these beauties are far and few between, thus the majority of my clothes can do with some jazzing up. And there are so many ways in which to do so!
I enjoy a good dangly earring, especially of the golden circular variety and the nice thing about earrings is they just hang there, you don't really notice them, unless they're particularly weighty. Necklaces, like people, come in all sorts of shapes and sizes: beads, long, short, metallic chain, gemstones, cord chokers. There's one for every neck! Additionally, I have a bowl of corsages in a rainbow of colours. They're so versatile as many have a hair band or a pin/clip. Finally, as the wearer of earrings, necklaces and hair ornaments, your audience (because you look fabulous enough to warrant one) will look at your face/jewels because they're situated near/on your jewels/face. That sentence depends on how much you like your accessories or face on that particular occasion.
Moving on to bracelets! I struggle with arm decoration, likewise with finger trinkets. I wriggles my fingers and wave my arms around like nobody's business so they could easily become a hazard to myself and others. Also, as a former student, and someone who is still learning to touchtype (I'm trying, but my hand-eye co-ordination leaves a lot to be desired) bangles and chunky bracelets don't make for resting wrists.
Finally, like you, your jewels should be safely wrapped up for the night. I have a box to stack my bangles in. My bracelets and rings live in two floral patterned pots. Meanwhile, my long earrings hang off my cork board to keep them tangle-free and my hook earrings cling onto the edge of a handled bowl. I was given one of those female form jewelry holders that, once I took to it, has rewarded me by being super useful for necklace perching. Now I LOVE receptacles; I have an incredible passion for bric-a-brac, junk and old things, which make great, beautiful jewelry holders. You wouldn't wrap your beautiful selves in an old plastic pot, so treat your crown jewels and they will reward you with extra sparkle!
This week may there be rings on our fingers and bells on our toes, to clink and jingle, respectively!
